Shipping - why?

We've been asked why we charge shipping, when other sites provide "free" shipping, or charge a fixed fee per item. Since Fedex and other carriers don't ship for free, this cost has to be covered somehow. For the free and low-cost shipping sites, the price is built into the product price itself. This does make it simple to calculate, but it means that someone close to the location of the product is paying as much as the person who is far away. It also means that someone who is picking up their product will, in essence, be paying shipping anyway. We have a substantial number of pickup orders, and these customers don't want to pay for something they don't need.

We don't make money on shipping

We don't make any money on shipping. UPS and Fedex provide us with volume prices, and we pass those discounted prices directly on to you.

But you are offering free shipping on product X

Sometimes we do have special offers that include free shipping. These usually happen only during special sales.
